What it is

Startup Grind Washington DC is the Washington, DC chapter of Startup Grind, a global community of startups, founders, innovators and creators. The chapter page lists more than 10,900 members. It is led locally by Chapter Director Mia Orantes of Creative Analytics, which is also listed as a chapter partner.

What it offers founders

Chapter members are notified about monthly fireside chats, happy hours, pitch events and social gatherings. Pitch events are described as low-pressure sessions where founders get feedback from peers, and the chapter keeps a sign-up form for founders who want to pitch. Recent in-person events listed on the chapter page include Deals on Deck, a Founders Yacht Party, a June 2026 Founders Dinner and a Founders Summer Cookout.

Beyond local events, the global Startup Grind Startup Membership is aimed at early-stage founders. According to Startup Grind, it includes investor office hours and warm introductions, access to a curated Slack community and private member directory, chances to pitch investors and get feedback on a pitch deck, founder-only events and workshops, partner perks, and a monthly Investor Exposure showcase where selected member startups are presented to VCs and accelerators. Startup Grind also runs a Startup Exhibition at its SG Conference in Silicon Valley, scheduled for April 27 to 28, 2027.

Who it is for

The chapter is open to founders at any stage, along with investors, experts, sponsors and others in the DC startup community. The Startup Membership is described as built for early-stage founders, whether raising a first round, scaling a team or just getting started. Separate tracks exist for investors and subject-matter experts.

Why it matters in the DMV ecosystem

For a founder new to the region, the chapter offers a recurring, low-commitment way to meet other DC founders and investors in person, practice a pitch in front of peers, and plug into a global network with its own investor programs and conference. Event details, dates and any ticket prices are posted per event, so check the chapter page before attending.
