What it is

Carr Workplaces is a flexible office operator that says it has been in business for more than two decades. It runs 20 buildings in 9 markets across the United States, with more than 150 meeting rooms. The DMV is its largest cluster: five centers in Washington, DC (K Street, Georgetown, Penn Ave, Capitol Hill and The Willard Offices), two in Maryland (Bethesda and Friendship Heights) and five in Northern Virginia (Clarendon, Duke Street, King Street, Reston Town Center and Tysons Blvd). See the full list on the locations page.

What it offers founders

  • Private offices: furnished offices, team rooms and office suites, with 24/7 access at many locations for private office and dedicated desk members.
  • Coworking and hybrid plans: shared desk memberships, dedicated desks and blocks of monthly office hours for teams that are only in part of the week.
  • Virtual office services: a business mailing address, mail scanning and forwarding, a local phone number and live call answering.
  • Meetings and events: meeting and conference rooms bookable by the hour or day, plus event space at some centers.
  • Community Center Club: a member app and program for booking rooms, RSVPing to events, submitting service requests and getting member perks.

Pricing at a DC center

Prices vary by location. As an example, the K Street center at 1717 K Street NW lists private offices from $750 per month, coworking memberships at $249 (Home Base), $299 (All Access) and $550 (Dedicated Desk) per month, a $25 day pass, and hybrid plans from $250 per month for 8 hours. Meeting rooms there run from $60 per hour for members. Virtual solutions start at $80 per month for a business mailing address, with a $140 tier that adds a lobby listing, mail scanning and weekly forwarding. Carr also posts promotions on its special offers page, which carry their own terms and excluded locations.

Who it is for and how to engage

The mix of products fits a range of early stage needs: a solo founder who needs a DC business address and phone line, a small team that wants a few meeting room hours a month, or a funded team ready for a private suite near Metro. Several DC centers are near Farragut West, Farragut North and other Metro stations. Access hours, included meeting room time and weekend access depend on the plan and location, so confirm details with the local team. The K Street center holds an open house on the second Thursday of each month from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Answers to common questions about access, parking and amenities are on the FAQ page.

Why it matters in the DMV ecosystem

Because Carr operates across DC, suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia, a company can start with a virtual address or coworking plan in one center and later book rooms or move into an office at another location in the region, near government, legal and investor offices downtown.
