What it is

The DC Chamber of Commerce is a business membership organization in Washington, DC whose members range from tech startups to large corporations. Its stated mission is to create a vibrant, thriving economy that improves quality of life for all in the District by building partnerships between business, government and the community. The Chamber reports 925 member organizations.

What it offers founders

The Small Business Accelerator Program is a hybrid cohort program, sponsored by DMPED, that runs from August through December. Monthly commitments include an in-person session, a virtual AI training, mentor meetings and peer learning, covering business development, marketing, talent acquisition, legal considerations and financial and capital management. It targets revenue generating DC small businesses with fewer than 10 employees and is not an investment accelerator or a program for idea stage founders.

The Employer Advocacy Program offers free legal representation to DC employers in unemployment compensation cases at DOES and the Office of Administrative Hearings, plus free quarterly seminars and HR advisory support. Export DC helps District businesses prepare to sell overseas, starting with an International Ready questionnaire. The Chamber also runs committees, a member directory, State of Business reports and events such as the annual Chamber's Choice Awards and Gala.

Why it matters in the DMV ecosystem

The Chamber is the District's main business advocacy voice with the DC Council and government, so it is useful for founders who sell to local businesses, need policy context, or want structured small business support once they have revenue.
