What it is
The Potomac Officers Club (POC) is an executive membership community for the government contracting industry. It was founded in 2002 by Jim Garrettson as a 501(c)(6) non-profit and is now owned and operated by Executive Mosaic, based in Tysons, Virginia. Its stated mission is connecting and empowering executives and serving as a forum for dialogue on current issues in the federal market.
What it offers
POC runs 12 to 18 events a year in two main formats: three-hour breakfasts with a networking reception, keynote and panel, and half-day summits with multiple keynotes and panels. Its event calendar includes annual summits on federal civilian agencies, homeland security, healthcare, defense R&D, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, cyber, intelligence, the Army and the Navy, plus a GovCon Executive Leadership Summit. Speakers typically include senior government officials and industry leaders. POC also publishes GovCon news, sends a weekly Insider email and sells event sponsorships.
Membership and pricing
POC describes itself as an executive-only community with a restricted membership policy that excludes service providers and professional networking groups, and says all members are director level or above. Membership tiers are:
- Professional, $795: 40% off POC event registration, discounts on POC, GovConWire and ExecutiveBiz events, a member profile and daily newswires
- Elite, $1,495: $100 registration for all POC events, reduced registration for 40+ affiliated events a year, unlimited access to past virtual events and priority seating
- Government, $50: waived registration fees for POC, GovConWire and ExecutiveBiz events
Three-member and five-member packages are offered at reduced per-person rates. Events can also be attended without membership at standard registration prices.
How to engage
Browse upcoming summits and register for one to see whether the audience fits, then choose a tier through the membership page if you will attend regularly. Sponsorship inquiries and other questions go through the contact page. Executive Mosaic is at 8245 Boone Boulevard, Suite 650, Tysons Corner, VA 22182, phone 703.226.7000.
Why it matters in the DMV ecosystem
For founders building for defense, intelligence or civilian agencies, POC summits are a concentrated place to hear agency leaders describe priorities and to meet executives at prime contractors who may become partners or acquirers. The director-level membership rule means it suits founders and senior leaders rather than junior staff.
