What it is
The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, now branded simply as NVC, is a membership business organization that describes itself as the voice of business in Northern Virginia. It was founded in May 1925 as the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, became the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce in January 2016, adopted the streamlined NVC name in June 2024 and marked its centennial in 2025. The chamber says it focuses entirely on the region's business community and the issues it faces, and its history page credits it with supporting the development of Dulles International Airport and George Mason University's separation from the University of Virginia. Julie Coons is President and CEO.
What it offers members
- Government advocacy: an annual legislative agenda, a Policy Committee, a Lobby Day and an affiliated political action committee, NOVABIZPAC. Legislative agenda input meetings are open to all members.

Who it is for
NVC serves businesses of all sizes and industries across Northern Virginia and Greater Washington, and its membership includes large brands such as Hilton, Verizon and Bank of America. Its programs lean toward policy, government contracting and executive networking, so it suits founders who sell to government or large enterprises, care about regional policy, or want access to established business leaders and public officials.
Membership and pricing
The membership page lists 2026 NVC Core Membership pricing at $4,000. Dues are flat-rate, so all of a member company's employees can use chamber benefits. Applications are submitted online, and the membership team can be reached through the chamber's main line at 703-749-0400. Non-members can see what is coming up on the upcoming events page. The chamber's mailing address is P.O. Box 3604, McLean, VA 22103.
Why it matters in the DMV ecosystem
NVC is one of the longest-running business organizations in the region and puts much of its effort into state and local policy that affects Northern Virginia companies, such as housing supply and workforce. For an early-stage founder, the $4,000 core membership is a significant cost, so it is worth attending a public event or reviewing the NOVA Roadmap and advocacy priorities before joining. For a growing company with government or enterprise customers, the chamber offers structured access to regional decision makers.
