What it is
Statecraft builds AI workers for government agencies. According to its website, it turns documented workflows into governed, auditable agents that carry out public-sector work, executing tasks, escalating exceptions and leaving an audit trail. Its recruiting profile uses the tagline "Automate the Government" and describes the company as building workers for the work that keeps the country running.
What it builds
In August 2026 Statecraft announced Workforce, an agentic platform for federal back-office administration and its first deployed solution. As reported by Homeland Security Today, Workforce deploys custom teams of AI agents mapped to named roles on an agency's org chart, covering acquisition, finance, grants, case management and reporting. Each team is trained on a single agency's statutes, regulations and procedures, retrieves the governing authority before acting, and logs every step so decisions can be inspected and reversed. The company said pilots with federal agencies showed up to 90 percent time savings and 95 percent cost savings; these are company-reported figures.
Who it is for
Statecraft's stated customers are federal agencies, with a focus on administrative work that is often handled today by services contractors. Its positioning is to build agency capacity with transparent, accountable AI rather than relying on outside contractors for routine back-office processes.
Stage, team and traction
Statecraft is led by CEO Alex Cohen, who co-founded GovPro AI and led its exit to Unanet, and CTO Priansh Shah, also a GovPro AI co-founder, who previously led technical programs for Palantir at the State Department, SPACECOM and NGA. Its Wellfound profile lists offices in Washington, DC and New York City, a team of 11 to 50 people, and open roles including a Forward Deployed Engineer and a Chief of Staff. Funding details have not been published on the sources reviewed.
How founders and partners can engage
The company's website currently offers a minimal landing page, so the most direct routes are its homepage and its open roles on Wellfound. For DMV founders building govtech or AI for public-sector operations, Statecraft is a local example of a team applying agentic AI to federal acquisition, grants and finance workflows.
