What it is
Georgetown Ventures (GV) is a startup accelerator and entrepreneurship club at Georgetown University run entirely by students. A group of students founded it in 2017, it formalized its Strategy, Creative and Tech divisions in 2019, and it incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2021. GV reports more than 80 student members supporting 8 to 10 startups per semester, more than 110 founders helped since 2017, and more than $45 million raised collectively by its alumni companies.
What it offers founders
Each accepted startup goes through a ten-week accelerator and is supported by a student team drawn from three divisions:
- Strategy: customer understanding, value proposition work, market research, MVP testing, outreach and pitch decks.
- Creative: brand assets and marketing materials.
- Tech: front-end and back-end development to launch a product or update existing technology.
GV states that mentorship and support are provided at no cost. Its site does not mention equity terms. The program ends with Demo Day in Lohrfink Auditorium in the Hariri Building, where founders pitch and review their progress; pitches are recorded and streamed to investors beyond DC. The Fall 2026 Demo Day is listed for December 8, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Who it is for
The startup program is open to DMV-area founders only and supports startups at all stages. Past cohorts listed on the startups page span sectors such as biotech, consumer, sports, climate and software. Student membership is limited to Georgetown undergraduates, who receive new member education, project placement from their first week and career events for startup, venture capital, consulting and banking paths.
How to apply
Startup applications open after each Demo Day. The process is an application about your startup, an interview with GV's startup search team if selected, and an invitation to join the ten-week accelerator if accepted. As of this update, the Fall 2026 startup application is closed and a Spring 2027 interest form is available on the apply page. Georgetown undergraduates apply as members at the start of each semester through an application, recruiting events and a board interview.
Why it matters in the DMV ecosystem
For an early-stage DMV founder without budget for consultants or contract developers, GV offers a semester of hands-on strategy, design and engineering help from a student team at no stated cost, plus a public pitch at Demo Day. It also gives founders a direct line into the wider Georgetown entrepreneurship community.
